Have you considered adding Insteon http://www.insteon.com compatibility to your Home Power Audio kit. 

There is a large following of Insteon installed houses and the idea is simple enough that the speaker end would become an Insteon responder and would turn up and down with a button on the wall an Insteon &quot;controller&quot;
