IOGEAR Sounds Off With Computer Sharing~ Launches the first KVM switches with built-in cables that allow users to share audio [01-27-2004]

IOGEAR, the mobile connectivity and peripheral specialist, has introduced its MiniView Micro USB Plus and MiniView Micro Audio KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switches. Users can now control USB or PS/2 computers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse, while sharing multimedia speakers. Both models feature built-in six-foot cables for easy setup, and IOGEAR’s patented VSE Video Signal Enhancement technology which boosts the video signal and supports high resolutions. The MiniView Micro USB Plus KVM switch is a self-powered switch with built-in cables for simple Plug-n-Play use. This switch allows users to simultaneously run and share audio among two computers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. The switch comes with a unique USB Sniffing Technology that reduces the delay typically experienced when switching computers and allows multiple computers to be booted simultaneously. In a breakthrough in KVM technology for Mac and Sun users, IOGEAR has enabled the functionality of the special keys on these systems. When using a PC keyboard, a special set of hot keys have been designed to emulate the special keys on the Mac and Sun machines. The MiniView Micro Audio KVM switch is the smallest two-port KVM switch available on the market with audio support. With KVM cables molded into the unit, users are now able to manage two PCs from a single keyboard, monitor and mouse and share the multimedia speakers between them. The MiniView Micro USB Plus switch is priced at $79.95 (MSRP), while the MiniView Micro Audio Switch is priced at $59.95 (MSRP). Both KVM switches are available immediately from all major catalog resellers, online resellers and selected retail outlets. “Consumers often wonder what to do with that old computer sitting in the closet taking up space,” said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR, Inc. “IOGEAR’s affordable multimedia KVM switches are an ideal solution because they connect two computers with just one keyboard, monitor and mouse, while allowing consumers to share multimedia speakers. That old computer no longer has to sit in the dark and collect dust.” IOGEAR’s MiniView Micro USB Plus functions on Microsoft Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP, Mac OS 8.6 or higher and Sun Solaris workstations. The MiniView Micro USB Audio runs on PC’s and requires an adapter for use with Mac computers. The products come with IOGEAR’s standard three-year warranty.
