IOGEAR Plants Nearly 60,000 Trees Through Partnership with Trees for the Future [04-15-2009]

Will plant two trees for every product purchased during Earth Month

IOGEAR today announced updates on its GREEN initiative, the company’s commitment to preserving the environment and improving lives, including progress on its ‘Road to a Million Trees’ campaign.

Last year, the company entered into a partnership with Trees for the Future, a non-profit organization devoted to supporting the redevelopment of agricultural land in developing countries by planting trees. IOGEAR committed to plant one tree for every product purchased on its Web site or through members of its GREEN initiative partner program, and in 11 months, has planted nearly 60,000 trees. In addition, six companies have joined IOGEAR’s ‘Road to a Million Trees’ campaign to date: A1 Books, CDW Corporation, Digitek Computer Products, Insight, PC Mall and Zones, Inc.

The trees that IOGEAR’s customers have planted by supporting the company’s campaign have gone towards Trees for the Future’s Cameroon program, which focuses on 17 districts within three provinces and includes more than 200 farming groups. The trees planted through this program have helped improve soil fertility through the creation of natural green fertilizer, feed domestic animals such as pigs, goats and cows as well as produce honey to generate income.

In honor of Earth Month, IOGEAR will plant two trees for every product purchased on its Web site or from its GREEN partners in April 2009.
