Gamers: Social or Anti-Social?

It is a common myth that gamers are anti-social beings who hide in a dark room and play video games with little to no interaction with other human beings. And although this may be true for some lone-ranger gamers, the majority is thriving in online communities with other gamers.

Christmas Decorations & Ideas

Christmas Village

Putting together Christmas villages is one of my favorite decorations for the holiday. Simply put, they are scale models of a small town in a winter wonderland. You will typically see a train running through these villages, but not all have trains. This is your chance to design what ever you want. Some villages can be placed under the Christmas tree or on a table. Which ever you prefer, you will have a wonderful time setting these up. If you do, it will be a memory your kids will talk about with their kids when they grow up and hopefully pass along the tradition. The video below is an example of what can be done if you put a lot of effort into it. It can get expensive, so start small and expand upon it every year.

Memorable Thanksgiving

Tis the busy holiday season and prepping for dinners and parties can be stressful. Finding ideas to set you apart from all those other dinner parties can be a daunting task. To give you a jump start on your ideas check out some of these creative decorations, games and food, but don't be afraid to put your own twist on these ideas!

Black Friday Survival Guide

That time of year is here and the preparation begins early! Are you ready? If not check out this simple guide on "How To Survive Black Friday". Remember if you plan on going out this year, make sure you take coffee and happy pills, no one likes when people are cranky running around in these large crowds! Don't forget if you do not like crowds, fighting for products and dealing with people then you should stay home and prepare for Cyber Monday, Black Friday is for the calm, prepared and resilient ;).

Christmas Lists

Make sure that you have everyone's Christmas lists early, preferably now. Kids often already have these working since summer so it shouldn't be too much of an issue, but for the adults on your list make sure to ask them now what they want so you can prepare. Don't forget to have yours ready too because if you are going to ask what they want they will probably ask you the same question right there!

Research Ads & Coupons

Do your research. If you want to properly do Black Friday then start looking at ads now and see where the cheapest of the products are going to be. Many sites do previews of products just so you can prepare. For general sales just keep those in mind for the bottom of your to go to list. Make sure to print specific ads just in case the employees get confused in the chaos you can show them what you are talking about. Also, having your coupons in order makes check out that much faster and you that less frustrated.

The Techy Chef

The everyday cook now does everything digital; digital scales, digital recipes, digital conversion charts, some even have digital refrigerators! More often than not the chef of the house is on their iPhone looking for recipes on Pinterest or other popular sites, but what if you forget how to convert measurements, well there's an app for that. Or what if you don't know what to make for dinner and wish there was an app that you could punch in what ingredients you have in your kitchen and it will give you recipes, well there is now an app for that too! Everything is being digitalized and taken above and beyond the expectations of the day to day chef!

It doesn't stop there though, now there are tools to use in the kitchen that will make everyone's life easier and our palette more adventurous.

For Christmas Morning Breakfast with the family check out the ChefStack the automatic pancake machine, this will turn your kitchen into IHOP.

How to Throw the Ultimate Halloween Party

It is time to Get Goolish! Halloween is right around the corner and that means that you need to start planning, if you haven't already! Follow these 8 Steps to throw the Ultimate Halloween Party...

Halloween Tech

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. It's one that I wish would be more than just one night, but with the right decorations, you can make it last the whole month. The preparation of your decorations is a great bonding experience for your family and teaches your kids creativity and little bit of science and technology. I am going to share with you some techniques I've used over the years that fascinate Halloween goers and make your house the highlight of the neighborhood.

Window Projections

Difficulty: easy to medium depending on your setup

Last year, I tried digital window projections that had kids coming by saying ‘we had to come by the eyeball house' and parents asking how it was done. This can be accomplished with a projector, white sheet, laptop, and a scary video. I downloaded an eyeball video and a lightning video from Hallowindow and projected it onto a sheet in the second story of our house. To get two eyeballs in different windows, I transmitted my video wirelessly using the Wireless 5x2 Matrix. This allowed me to have the same video so the eyeballs look at the same place at the same time making it look real. You can also use the Wireless HD Digital Kit for this effect which also costs less.

Basic Internet Security Tips

In today's world, it can be very easy to find yourself with a compromised internet account. I would like to share with you some tips to reduce the chances of your accounts from getting hacked.

Email Setup

When setting up an email account on your phone, tablet, or other device, make sure you are correctly inputting the server details. Most devices these days have automatic email setup configurations, but those are only for popular email service providers. For other less popular email service providers or a work email address, this opens the possibility of a simple typo resulting in your email account being compromised. I could buy, for example, and wait for you to try and connect to your email with a wrong server name. Once you try and connect to the fake server, I've just stolen your email and password.

Example of a unsecure connection for Yahoo.

Back on Campus

Fall is a great time to be on a college campus, whether you're a student yourself or catching a football game as alumni. If you peek into a dorm room while you're there, you'll see that technology is a staple of student life -- and there's no space to waste when you're sharing a room.

How to have the ULTIMATE Viewing Party

Football season is officially underway, and you know what that means, SUNDAY FUNDAY, Monday Night Football and of course what every football diehard fan waits for… The Super Bowl!!!
