IOGEAR Supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure with Digital Card Reader / Writer [09-19-2011]

For every pink SD / MicroSD / MMC Card Reader/Writer sold between September 2011 and August 2012, IOGEAR will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Foothill Ranch, Calif. - September 19, 2011 - IOGEAR is proud to announce a fund-raising initiative benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists dedicated to taking global action against breast cancer through research, community health programs and advocacy.

In supporting the search for cures, IOGEAR is donating $1 for every pink, specially marked SD / MicroSD / MMC Card Reader / Writers sold between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $25,000. The digital card readers are an ideal solution for hi-speed, bi-directional image and data transfer. With digital cards now a ubiquitous solution used for storing data on smart phones, cameras, MP3 players and more, the IOGEAR card reader allows data to be transferred quickly from a Secure Digital Card (SD), MultiMedia Card (MMC), or MicroSD memory cards to PCs or Macs via USB 2.0.

Simply insert the SD, MicroSD or MMC card into the USB thumb drive sized reader / writer and then plug directly into the PC or Mac and file transfers can happen with ease. The card reader also sports an eye-catching pink finish with the Komen "Running Ribbon" prominently displayed. IOGEAR choose this particular card reader because the price is low enough for almost anyone to show support and because so many devices rely on memory cards, it has instant mass appeal.

"We hope that women will download and transfer information about their breast health and screening recommendations from Susan G. Komen to their IOGEAR device so that they can always have it with them," said Margo K. Lucero, vice president of business development and partnerships for Komen. "We're very pleased for IOGEAR's support as we turn awareness into action for breast health."

"IOGEAR is honored to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said James Hsieh, CEO of IOGEAR. "There are so many incredible causes, and choosing our first major corporate fundraising partner was tough, but it's important that our support makes a difference. The organization's research and initiatives create important awareness about breast cancer while the services provide immeasurable help to those affected. We're proud to be part of the Komen family."

The IOGEAR SD / MicroSD / MMC Card Reader/Writer benefiting Komen will be sold online at the IOGEAR online store and at select national retail chains.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982 that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure® and Komen 3-Day for the Cure®, we have invested more than $1.9 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
