IOGEAR Expands GearPower Personal Device Charging Line [03-28-2012]

Two new mobile power devices revive tablets, smartphones, cameras and other gear when no AC power outlets are in sight.

Foothill Ranch, CA – March 28, 2012 - IOGEAR, a leader in convergence through connectivity, announces the new GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400 (GMP4400PP) and GearPower Mobile Pocket Power 2000 (GMP1001PP) charging solutions for tablets, smartphones, cameras, and other mobile USB and Micro-USB compatible devices. Slim and lightweight, these portable power stations offer a recharge of 4400mAh and 2000mAh (milliampere-hours, respectively), enough to give your mobile devices a reliable recharge when needed most.

GearPower Mobile Power Station with Device Adapters (GMP4400PP)
GMP4400PP allows users to revive deceased tablets, smartphones, cameras, and other USB powered devices through the power station's USB 5V 1A power port. Slim and lightweight (only 0.75 lbs), the portable power station includes manufacture tips for devices from Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Nokia; as well as Micro USB and Mini USB connections. The GMP4400PP features a built-in short-circuit and over-charge prevention, as well as temperature protection.

GearPower Mobile Pocket Power 2000 (GMP1001PP)
Smaller than its cousin, the GearPower Mobile Pocket Power 2000 weighs as much as a hummingbird (without accessories). Bundled with interchangeable connectors, it can charge virtually any Motorola, BlackBerry, Samsung, Apple, or Android mobile device at only 2 in. by 3.8 in. It’s one of the most compact mobile charging solutions ever, easily storing power in someone's pocket.

Lithium-ion battery technology is making storage solutions like the GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400 and Pocket Power 2000 increasingly efficient. Battery draining phone and tablet applications, as well as the need for travelers, students, commuters and others to stay connected, have increased demand for secondary charging solutions. As more devices are sold, more pocket power storage will be necessary.

"We've all had experiences where a pocket charge would have been useful," said Bill Nguyen, senior marketing manager for lOGEAR. "We live in a society where mobile electronics are now the standard way of life. The universal need that binds us all together in our use, is the need for extended battery power."

Before use, the GearPower Mobile Power devices must be charged by connecting the Micro-USB cable to a computer's USB or by using the Micro-USB wall outlet power adapter. Both pocket chargers display a smart LED power capacity indicator that displays the current power level, and unlike some charging pad solutions, there is no threat of over-heating connected devices with the integrated over-charge protection and temperature control technology.

With accessories, the devices weigh in at a tote-friendly 0.4lbs (GMP1001PP) and 0.5lbs (GMP4400PP), the stations each come with a semi-rugged carrying case for protection and concealment when running to catch a flight. The GearPower Mobile Pocket Power 2000 is pink and has an MSRP of $42.95. The GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400 is white and has an MSRP of $49.95.

Both are available now. For every battery unit sold between March 1, 2012 and August 31, 2012, IOGEAR is giving a portion of the proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with guaranteed minimum donations of $20,000 and $12,000 for models GMP4400PP and GMP1001PP respectively.
