IOGEAR, the connectivity and peripheral specialist, has introduced BOSS™ (Broadband Office Storage Server), a network server appliance that combines networking, secure Internet access and data storage in a single unit. Ideal for small and home offices (SOHOs), BOSS is a simple and cost-effective hardware tool used to maintain and manage a small network. A small network can use BOSS to store files, music, family photos and more.
IOGEAR’s all-in-one solution integrates Network Attached Storage (NAS), a cable/DSL router, and an Ethernet switch. BOSS also comes with a Firewall, built-in Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server capabilities.
BOSS shares DSL or cable modem connections to provide Internet access to all computers on a network. The appliance’s built-in NAS provides extra storage space on the network for backup, expansion, file-sharing and data management.
To ensure a SOHO network is kept private and secure, BOSS offers advanced security features, including its Firewall and VPN. The Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) Firewall ensures the same level of security and privacy as larger, corporate networks. BOSS also acts as an FTP server, allowing users to securely and remotely access network files too large to email or store on portable media. The VPN provides telecommuters and mobile workers with a convenient and safe way to stay remotely connected to the network.
BOSS is priced at $399.95 (MSRP) with a 120GB hard drive and $499.95 (MSRP) with a 200GB hard drive. The product is available immediately from all major catalog resellers, online resellers and selected retail outlets.
