IOGEAR Introduces USB Speaker Phone for Voice Over IP Calls [09-06-2005]

Replaces traditional headsets for hands-free communication

Irvine, CA – September 6, 2005 – Users can now further reduce cord clutter around their workstations by using IOGEAR’s new USB Speaker Phone, an ideal solution for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) two-way conversations, conference calls or business meetings. The product is designed for calls via Internet telephony applications, such as instant messaging audio chat, Skype, Vonage, WebEx and many more. Consumers can now engage in superior quality VoIP calls with their colleagues or family, due to the product’s advanced noise / echo cancellation feature, which minimizes unwanted external interference. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology delivers crystal clear sound. The product also includes a 2.5mm headset jack, allowing users to keep their conversations private. The USB Speaker Phone is easy to set up, no software to install, and its USB outlet enables immediate connection to a PC or Mac computer. Its compact size (2.2” x 0.8” x 3.2”) and lightweight design (1.5 ounces) make it a convenient tool for people on the go. “According to IDC, the number of home VoIP subscribers will grow from three million in 2005 to 27 million by 2009,” said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR Inc. “Consumers will now be able to take advantage of our USB Speaker Phone to engage in high-quality calls, using a compact device, at a low cost.” The product is priced at $59.95 (MSRP) and is available immediately from all major catalog resellers, online resellers and selected retail outlets. It fully supports USB specifications and an 8KHz input sampling rate. Packaging also includes a six-foot USB cable for connecting to computers.
