IOGEAR Eliminates Cables with Latest Bluetooth Offering - Bluetooth CompactFlash Card allows wireless interaction with a PDA [02-04-2003]

IOGEAR has introduced a device that allows consumers to print, transfer files, synchronize data and surf the Internet from their PDA, all without cables. IOGEAR’s Bluetooth CompactFlash (CF) Card enables users to extend the use of their PDAs in the office, at home or on the road. The CF Card easily plugs into most PDAs and allows users to interact with PCs, peripherals and wireless devices within the Bluetooth personal area network, up to 66 feet away. The Card is energy efficient and features built-in encryption and authentication for safe and secure communication. It is priced at $99.95 (MSRP) and is available immediately from all major catalog resellers, online resellers and selected retail outlets. “This new technology brings us one step closer to a wireless world and allows the enterprising individual to take advantage of Bluetooth at a reasonable cost,” said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR Inc. “IOGEAR’s Bluetooth technology will bring the home office to life.” The device complies with Bluetooth 1.1 specifications and will fit into both Type I and Type II slots on a PDA. The energy-saving CF Card supports data transfer rates of up to 723 Kbps and is compatible with all PDAs that are equipped with Microsoft Pocket PC.
